Personal assistance

oa 3At the Association, personal assistance programmes are generally taken advantage of by quadriplegics as they require support with the majority of vital activities. Personal assistance is unique. It is unlike public services as it includes more than mere practical assistance and home care – instead, the programme facilitates the active integration of the disabled into the regular social environment. The above is intended for confining social exclusion and promoting equality. Services associated with personal assistance include personal care, household assistance, assistance with participation in the social environment and assistance with mobility. oa 2Programme beneficiaries are provided the required manner of physical assistance necessary for a more independent and active lifestyle. In 2011, our organisation was granted five-year programme verification by the Social Chamber of Slovenia.
Providers of personal assistance are personal assistants employed by the Slovenian Paraplegic Association on a fixed-term basis. Currently, the programme is funded in its entirety by the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, laying the grounds for continuous and professional programme management.
